Police arrest ritualist for killing, butchering lady in Osun

A 40-year-old ritualist, Kabiru Oyeduntan, has been arrested by the Osun State Police for allegedly killing and butchering a lady.

Parading the suspect on Friday at the Police Command Headquarters in Osogbo, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode, said the suspect, who was in possession of freshly dismembered human parts, was arrested on Thursday in Apomu community of the state.

Olokode explained that the police acted on a tip-off that some ritualists beheaded an unknown lady at about 9:00pm at Quarry area of Apomu before Oyeduntan was arrested with the severed body.

“On June 10, 2021, at about 9pm, we got credible information that some ritualists beheaded an unknown lady at Quarry area of Apomu. 

“A team of police operatives, in collaboration with the local security outfits, swiftly moved into action and arrested one Kabiru Oyeduntan, aged 40, of Moninun compound, Ikoyi, with the butchered body parts of a suspected lady of about 20 years of age. 

“Meanwhile, the Police, having critically looked at the severed body parts, observed that some body parts were missing. The police subsequently extended investigation and conducted search today, June 11, 2021, at the house of the suspected killer and recovered the head, wrist and other parts of the severed body inside a box in one of the rooms of the suspect.”

“The suspect will be charged to court after the completion of investigation,” the CP assured.
