Police arrest suspects for stealing 4-yr-old boy in Ogun

The police in Ogun have arrested three suspects for allegedly stealing a four-year-old-boy, Hammed Adediran, in Warewa, Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects: Abubakar Saidu,22; Danladi Abdulkarim,30 and Abdullah Idris,25, were arrested on January 24 following a complaint by the mother of  the missing child, Noimot Adediran, at Warewa Police Station that one of her neighbours alerted her about sighting her son with three strange men.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the three suspect, who were sighted with the child, were waiting at Arepo bus stop to board a vehicle to an unknown destination

Oyeyemi explained further that the woman, upon the information given  to her by her neighbour, began to  look for her child where she left him but was unable to find him and later decided to report the matter to the police station.

The police spokesperson said that on the strength of the information received, the Divisional Police Officer, Warewa Police Division, Superintendent Folake Afeniforo, immediately drafted a team of police men to the bus stop to nab the suspects, who were waiting along with the missing child to board a vehicle to an unknown place.

He added that on getting to the bus stop, the police were able to apprehend the suspects through the help of the members of the public and recovered the boy from them.

The PPRO said that upon interrogation, the three suspects, who claimed to have come from Jigawa State, could not give any reasonable account of why they stole the child or why they wanted to board a commercial bus with him.

He noted that the child had been reunited with his parents while the suspects were undergoing interrogation.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.

The police commissioner, therefore, advised parents to always take the security and wellbeing of their children seriously in order to shield them from those looking for every means to be rich.
