The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Chinasa Nwaneri along with three other individuals.

His arrest has drawn significant attention due to Nwaneri’s previous role in the Imo state government house.

Nwaneri is a former Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Special Duties.

His tenure in this capacity has made the circumstances surrounding his arrest particularly noteworthy, given his past influence and responsibilities within the administration.

According to reports, Nwaneri was apprehended on Sunday.

Security operatives, who had been tracking his movements, located him at a hotel where he was staying and subsequently took him into custody.

Sources said the governor on assumption of duty as commissioner for lands discovered through some documents that his signature was allegedly forged.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Command, ASP Henry Okoye, confirmed that Nwaneri was in the Command’s custody.

He said the governor’s former aide was arrested over allegations of “malicious damage, fraudulent activities, obtaining money under false pretence and illegal use of government power/authority to harass, intimidate and frustrate the citizens of Imo State.”

He stated that the investigation was still ongoing, assuring that further development would be communicated in due course.
