The Police in Osun State have arrested a 47-year-old woman, Taiwo Faribido, for allegedly forcing the son of her lover into a room and using items and substances suspected to be charms on him.
Faribido is said to be in an amorous relationship with a 57-year-old married man, identified as Basiru Azeez and she started dating him after he got separated from his wife.
However, Azeez’s wife had left their 14-year-old son for her estranged husband who lives in Osogbo, capital of the state to take care of.
The Point gathered that Faribido conspired with Azeez and forced the young boy, Basiru Samuel into her mother’s room with charms.
Faribido and Azeez were accused of forcing an herbal concoction down the throat of Samuel and threatened him with death if he tells his mother or anyone of what has been done to him.
The victim was said to have been down with ailment before he reportedly narrated what his father and concubine did to him.
Consequently, police arrested Faribido and Azeez and dragged them before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court.
Police prosecutor, Adeoye Kayode, told the court that the duo committed the offence on October 2, 2024 at opposite Araromi School, Osogbo.
“That you Basiru Azeez and Taiwo Faribido on the same date and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did conduct yourselves in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace by forcing one Bashiru Samuel into his mother’s room with charm and instructed him never to say it out to his mother and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 249(D) of Criminal Code CAP 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
“That you Basiru Azeez and Taiwo Faribido on the same date and time did give some herbal concoction to one Bashiru Samuel and forced him into an oath with death threat not to say it to his mother or any other person which later caused him protracted illness and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 208 of Criminal Code CAP 34 Vol II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002,” the charge read.
Azeez and Faribido entered into a not-guilty plea.
The Presiding Magistrate, M. A. Olatunji, granted the accused persons bail each in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in the like sum who must be a blood relation. The matter has been adjourned for hearing.
