Police parade fake MOPOL Commander in Kano

A suspected quack medical doctor, Mohammed Aliyu, has been arrested by men of the Kano State Police Command over alleged criminal breach of trust and impersonation.

The 42-year-old suspect, who is a resident of Mariri Quarters, Kano metropolis, was alleged to have feigned to be the Commander in charge of MOPOL 52, Challawa, Kano.

The police said that Aliyu had defrauded the resident of the city of valuables by falsely parading himself as a police officer and a medical personnel.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kano State Police command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed while parading the suspect at the Kano Command Headquarters, Bompai, that the suspect was arrested following a tip-off from his victims.

The PPRO listed items that were recovered from him to include a forged police identity card and complimentary cards, saying, “Preliminary investigations had revealed that Mohammed Aliyu, 42 years old, is an ex convict.

“He was convicted by a competent court of law for working as a fake doctor. His action even resulted to loss of live, according to our investigation.

“We arrested him for suspected fraudulent activities. We have recovered suspected police complimentary and identity cards from him. Fake medical documents were also found in his possession. He has confessed to the crime.

However, the suspect denied the allegations, saying, “The medical documents is from my past. I have stopped operating with them. I am innocent, even though I was once convicted by a court.”

The police said that on completion of investigation, the suspect would be arraign in court.
