The Ebonyi State Police command said it has commenced investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing of a police officer at Ezzamgbo Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.

A police officer was killed while allegedly carrying out a robbery operation recently in a community in Ebonyi.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer of Ebonyi State Command, DSP Joshua Ukandu, made this known on Tuesday and implored “media practitioners to seek clarifications and speak to the facts before publishing sensational stories.”

According to the PPRO, “Two suspects who confessed to the killing have been arrested and the command will address the factual aspect of the issues following the completion of the investigation.”

Ukandu solicited the collaboration of citizens in the fight against crime and criminality in Ebonyi State.

“Ebonyi State Police Command is aware of a report in Citizens’ Advocate Newspaper claiming that a police officer was involved in a robbery incident and overpowered by vigilantes, who killed the police officer at the scene.

“The command wishes to clarify that it has commenced an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing of the police officer and the alleged offence,” he said.
