Police yet to get clue on killers of Lagos female broadcaster

One week after the killing of a Lagos-based broadcaster and the abduction of her little
daughter by a gang of suspected kidnappers, the police have yet to get clues on the perpetrators of the crime.
The incident occurred on Friday last week along Asolo-Majidun Road via Ikorodu Expressway. The broadcaster, identified as Mrs. Aisha Alli-Balogun and her daughter, Fareeda, were said to have been accosted by their assailants, who attempted to abduct the little girl.
The Point gathered that the broadcaster struggled spiritedly with the suspected kidnappers, who appeared to have targeted the little girl. It was in the course of the struggle that the mother of the girl was shot at point blank range.
In the ensuing confusion created by the incident, the woman was said to have slumped while the kidnappers eventually made away with the little girl. Unconfirmed reports also have it that a pregnant woman, whose identity was not immediately known, was abducted by the blood-thirsty kidnappers.
Detectives drawn from the Lagos Special Anti-Robbery Squad and their counterparts at the State Criminal Investigations Department were directed to investigate the matter with a view to bringing the desired result. But almost a week after the incident, “All the clues said to have been worked on by detectives had not produce any lead. Both family members and business associates of the late broadcaster were said to have been professionally interviewed by the police to no avail.”
The matter was said to have lately attracted the attention of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, who ordered a discreet investigation into the incident. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, was said to have swiftly ordered the best hands in the two outfits to fish out the killers of the broadcaster and at the same time liberate the abducted girl.
The late female broadcaster attended the University of Lagos where she studied English. Until her untimely death, she was a relationship manager and broadcaster at Afrotainment Productions. She was the anchor person of the popular comedy known as “Stand Up Nigeria.”
