Practise illegally, risk sanction, Kwara warns doctors

The Kwara State Government has banned doctors in its employment from engaging in private medical services and treating patients at home. The state government also threatened to sanction any of the doctors found violating the ban.

The state Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Sulaiman Atolagbe Alege, made this disclosure during a chat with The Point. Alege, who described the act as illegal, said that the ministry was watching the doctors in the employment of the state and would not spare anyone of them found wanting in this regard.

“A monitoring team saddled with check-mating some of these illegal practices has been set up to seal any house or office found in the act of being used as an outlet for illegal home services,” he added.

On the measures put in place by the state government to curtail the activities of fake medical personnel and quackery, Atolagbe confirmed that such menace was not common in the state.
