Pray for Nigeria’s economic survival – Methodist primate

The Primate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Uche Samuel Chukwuemeka, has urged Nigerians to pray for the economic survival of the country in the face of the current insecurity.

Chukwuemeka said this in a chat with our correspondent in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

He warned politicians to eschew political violence, condemning the recent theft of the Senate’s Mace by some suspected hoodlums.

The cleric stressed that such an occurrence was not good for the country’s democracy.

He accused the politicians in the country of being behind the killing of innocent people by the Boko Haram sect and suspected herdsmen.

“They are using the herdsmen and Boko Haram to work against the country,” he said.

The cleric also condemned the violence unleashed on Nigerians by various cult groups across the country.

Chukwuemeka added, “I’m surprised that some people want their son-in-law and their wives to succeed them after their tenure elapses. It is not good for democracy. We need to change our mindset. We have laws in this country.

“This time, politicians have taken over power by force. I don’t want to talk about the President, but I want to pray for him so that Nigeria can get better. Nigerians should take it easy to sustain the
country. You can’t play the politics of destruction. Nigeria is slipping back into the Stone Age; civilization should take place in the country.”
