Pregnant woman burnt in adulterated kerosene inferno needs lifeline for surgery

On the 27th day of October 2018, pregnant Mrs. Catherine Ezeh had sent her young child to buy some kerosene for the stove to be used to cook their family meal from a vendor in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital but unknown to her, a tragedy was lurking inside her kitchen.
Unknown to Ezeh, her child had been sold adulterated kerosene alleged to have been mixed with Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol.
Oblivious of this fact, she immediately poured the adulterated kerosene in her stove, but as she struck a match to light the stove, there was an instant explosion and the stove as well as the gallon containing the remaining kerosene caught fire and the inferno immediately engulfed Ezeh burning her alive.
A relation of Ezeh, who pleaded anonymity while narrating the pregnant woman’s ordeal to our correspondent in Abakaliki, said that unable to escape immediately from the raging inferno, she sustained 70 degree burn.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Plastic Surgery Ward of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, popularly called FETHA 2.
