There was pandemonium at the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress along Woji Road, GRA, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as heavy gunshots were reportedly being fired amid protests on Wednesday morning.
Trouble started as APC members said to be loyal to Senator Magnus Abe, a former federal lawmaker, allegedly stormed the secretariat on the allegation that the state assembly aspirants’ screening and ward/state delegates’ selection exercises were being hijacked.
The agitated party members claimed that they arrived at the secretariat around 6am only to meet the gate under lock and key.
The policemen stationed inside the party secretariat were said to have shot into the air as some of the aggrieved youths at the scene attempted to force the gate opened.
Those in the area reportedly scampered for safety to escape being injured or killed.
