Rangers sack coach Amapakabo

The management of Enugu Rangers has fired coach Imama Amapakabo barely few hours after the Nigeria’s reigning champions were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Zesco United of Zambia in the first leg playoffs round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

According to club’s media officer, Foster Chime, the club management met shortly after the underwhelming home draw to review the immediate and the remote causes of  their disastrous campaign in the league and they took the decision to help the club from total collapse.

“I want to inform you that Rangers have told Imama to step aside because of our unimpressive results which reached its height with our 2-2 draw at home to Zesco United,” Chime said.

”He will be served his letter on Monday morning. The management of the club had a crucial meeting after the game on Sunday and it was there the decision was taking.”

Rangers will face Zesco United next Sunday in the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup playoffs round knowing that only an away win will take them to the group stage of the competition after they let slipped a two goal lead in Enugu in the first leg on Sunday.
