Reps Minority Leader, Elumelu, loses in Delta to LP candidate

The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Ndudi Elumelu, has lost his bid to return to the House after he was defeated by the candidate of the Labour Party, Ngozi Okolie.

Elumelu is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the election and was seeking re-election to the Green Chamber for the third time.

Ngozi Okolie, who is an unknown political underdog, defeated Elumelu in the results collated from the four councils that make up the constituency in Saturday’s National Assembly election.

Labour Party polled 53, 879 votes to defeat the PDP candidate which scored 33, 466 votes in the election.

The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Kenneth Abaraibe, announced the result at the INEC collation centre in Asaba, Oshimi South Local Government Area of the state.

Abaraibe declared Okolie as the winner of the election having polled the highest votes in the constituency.
