The All Progressives Congress candidate for the Akuku-Toru/Asari- Toru Federal Constituency of Rivers State, Dr. George Dawari, has lambasted the state
governor, Chief Nyesome Wike, saying the governor is trying to frame him up as a potential rigger.

The re-run election in the area is scheduled for March 19, 2016.

Specifically, Dawari said his attention had been drawn to a media statement credited to the Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, Mr. Samuel Nwakaudu, alleging that he connived with a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt to draw up a list of returning officers from the institution, with the aim of rigging the re-run legislative election.

Dawari, in a press statement, said ordinarily, such a wild allegation would not have merited a response from him, but that regrettably, he was compelled to respond because the allegation was credited to no less a person than Governor Wike.
