Ruff ‘n’ Tumble launches #Listen2me2

In furtherance of its commitment to inspiring children and teenagers, premium clothing brand, Ruff ‘n’ Tumble, has released a video to launch its #Listen2me2 campaign.

Released in Lagos recently, the #Listen2Me2 video is in line with the brand’s desire to advocate for kids as well as start a conversation online and offline on the importance of listening to kids and giving them room to voice their opinions and ideas without being restricted by their parents and guardians.

According to the Chief Responsibility Officer of Ruff ‘n’ Tumble, Adenike Ogunlesi, a child is the most precious gift of life, born full of dreams and aspiration, and it is the society’s collective responsibility to create an environment of limitless opportunities to enable every child to find purpose and
fulfillment.

She further said, “As adults, every one of us has emotions. We can be happy, sad, afraid, anxious, excited, confused or angry. Just as we feel these emotions, children feel these emotions too. There are many events in the world and children want to be listened to and
heard too.

“Often times, people tend to forget the fact that children also desire to be listened to, just the same way parents want them to listen. This can be traced back to the days when children were seen as not capable of having their own opinions or emotions. The #Listen2me2 campaign aims to discredit this idea and emphasise the importance of listening to
children.”

She also explained that the concept became expedient, “considering the recent increase in suicide rates among kids and teens.”

“Findings showed that most of the children who died by suicide in recent times had attention problems. A particular study by the School of Information at the University of Michigan showed that while children have opinions or feelings they would like to share with their parents and guardians, they often feel their parents would either disregard their opinions or not understand them.”

Speaking on the occasion, Child Advocate, Ronke Adeniyi, said, “Parents and guardians need to find a way to listen to their children and be able to understand and handle whatever they tell them. As the world continues to change, children now have more access to information that has the capacity to influence them.

“Ruff ‘n’ Tumble implores everyone to join the conversation by following the hashtag #Listen2me2 in order to raise awareness on the need to give children a voice and help them develop themselves in a viable environment.”
