Sallah: Tambuwal, Sen Yayi urge Muslims to pray for Buhari, Nigeria

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto has urged Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of godliness, charity, perseverance and spiritual intercession for the nation as the country celebrates Eid-el-Adha.
In a message to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Adha sallah celebration, Tambuwal’s spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, the governor further urged his countrymen and women to always promote acts that enhance national integration and brotherhood.
He described the Sallah period as one that honours the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son to show submission to Allah’s command.
“As we’ve read from the Glorious Qur’an, just when Ibrahim was about to kill his son, Ishmael, the Almighty Allah (SWT) put a sheep in his place. As such, we Muslims use Eid ul-Adha to celebrate Prophet Ibrahim’s complete obedience to the will of Allah and as a reminder of our own willingness to make sacrifices in obedience to God,” he added.
Tambuwal assured the citizens of Sokoto of his determination to make the state a model for good governance, security of lives and property as well as economic prosperity.
“Our determination to make impact in critical sectors like education, health, agriculture, water supply, and rural development, among others, remains unshaken. I assure you that this administration will continue to prioritise the welfare of the citizens. We will continue to find lasting solutions to the challenges confronting us. We will continue with practical steps to impact on the lives of our citizens. The commendations we have received from far and near will only spur us to do more,” he added.
While wishing all Nigerians, especially those of Islamic persuasion, a happy sallah celebrations, the governor appealed to them to continue their prayers for total healing of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Similarly, the lawmaker representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Adeola, has enjoined Muslim faithful all over the nation to continue to persevere and pray for peace and progress as the nation gradually overcomes the current economic recession.

In his Eid-el- Kabir message to Muslims in the country, Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, said a strict adherence to the teachings of Islam in the areas of love, brotherliness, piety, peaceful coexistence as well as tolerance would greatly assist the Buhari administration to achieve its stated progressive agenda for the nation.
He added that the current downturn in the economy was a passing phase that would soon be over with the right government policies and peoples’ cooperation in implementing the policies.

The senator, in a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, also assured that he would continue to represent his constituents by ensuring that they continued to enjoy the dividends of democracy from the government as well as through his programmes in the area of health, education, provision of social amenities like boreholes, transformers, and constituency empowerment programmes, all aimed at complementing efforts by government at all levels.

He urged Muslims to shun social vices as stipulated in the Koran, adding that such vices are not only detrimental to the individual’s well- being but also harmful to the society.
