Seun Ajayi: I’m satisfied with my growth

Though Seun Ajayi has been acting professionally since 2007, it has not been an easy ride for him. But despite all the uncertainty, there seems to be a future for him in the world of make-believe.

He told The Point that he had learnt a lot all these past years on how to stay relevant and he was grateful for that.

“I am happy that I am here today. I am really cool with where I am now and I am looking forward to the future. Acting could be a harsh business and very welcoming. When the industry loves you, it is a wonderful feeling. When the industry doesn’t recognise you, you have to deal with it too. This is also how it is globally, but you must not dwell on that as an actor. The best way is to keep doing your best because you don’t know who is watching.”

The graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos also said that he had been without a job for a year in 2009. For him, 2009 was a very tough one but he survived.

“I got some works after that, which later gave me the conviction that I still had a future in the movie industry. Sometimes you could stay a long period of time without roles or you get rejected whenever you go for auditions,” he added.

The emerging actor had his biggest break last year after featuring as a lead character in ‘Suru Lere,’ a movie produced by Mildred Okpo and Rita Dominic. She met Okpo in 2010 and the rest was history.

Ajayi stated, “She called for an audition, which I attended and she said there was a project of hers I would fit into. Featuring in ‘Suru L’ere’ meant a lot for me. It was a very crucial time for me and the next decisions I made as an actor were very important.”
