No fewer than seven persons have been reportedly killed in a road accident that occured at Agu Agbo flyover, a section close to Ugwu Oyeama on Enugu-Onitsha Expressway on Thursday.
The mishap, according to eyewitnesses, involved a truck carrying vegetables.
A resident of Enugu, Ifemba Chijioke, who witnessed the accident explained that the truck was heavily laden with vegetables and the it lost control while plying the road, said to be in bad condition.
He said, “About seven souls were lost.
I witnessed the accident.”
Other eyewitnesses said that many other traders who were sitting on their vegetables were trapped under the loads.
Recall that on January 25, 2025, there was a tanker explosion at the Ugwu Onyeama section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway which claimed 21 lives.
The latest mishap on the road has generated reactions from residents who suggested ways at which the Federal and Enugu State Governments could mitigate frequent accidents on the road.
Meanwhile, other residents ascribed the recurring deaths on the road to spiritual manipulation of some ritualists.
“There is something about that hill that is not ordinary,” a resident, Queen Precious suggested.
A resident, Precious Ike, said, “The Federal Government should ban anything vehicle exceeding 10 tyres from plying day time. All these trucks, trailers and tankers have taken more lives at this same spot. God help us.
“We have a government that is as bad as nothing but looting instead of protecting lives and properties of the people. I blame all of that on the government inabilities to sustainable development and life protection policies.
“If there are demons living there, let the dual roads be functional and let us see how those demons work.”
