An Upper Sharia Court sitting in Kano has dissolved the marriage between Abdul Mumuni and his wife, Asmau, shortly after getting married to each other.

The marriage was dissolved on the account of a case filed by Asmau’s father, Jafar, seeking the dissolution of the marriage between his daughter on the account that his son-in-law is a kidnapper.

Jafar told the court that Abdul Mumuni was arrested and charged to court for allegation of kidnapping.

Asmau, who sobbed uncontrollably as the proceedings were ongoing, however, claimed that she still loved her husband despite her inability to object to the applications filed by her father in the court.

After hearing all the parties in the suit, the presiding Khadi, Ustaz Munzali Tanko, ordered the dissolution of the marriage between the young couple.

The court subsequently issued a divorce certificate to affirm the dissolution of the marriage.
