Transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano has told Chelsea what can be done to lure Victor Osimhen away from Napoli in the January transfer window.

It is not news that Stamford Bridge outfit have the Nigerian forward as first choice in their search for a proven striker.

Despite bolstering their attacking department in the summer, the Blues have continued to struggle for goals, scoring fewer times than all teams in the top half of the Premier League table besides Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino has his eyes set on getting the former Lille striker but has to cross the hurdle of forcing Napoli to sell.

The Serie A defending champions have ruled out selling their star striker in January but Romano has revealed what Chelsea can do to sign the 24-year-old in the winter transfer window.

”There’s no change to the Victor Osimhen situation guys. I keep repeating the same thing regarding January, and that is that I don’t expect the player to be made available by Napoli at that time,” Romano told reporters.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis seems fairly confident that his player will stay, suggesting that Osimhen’s new contract, offered last summer, is ready to be signed.

“My information is that, at the moment, the contract extension is not guaranteed yet, so it remains all open.

“The Serie A side will keep insisting that they don’t want Osimhen to leave early in the New Year, so it will need to be a crazy bid in order to tempt Napoli to do business. Otherwise, Osimhen’s situation becomes a hot topic for the summer transfer window,” Romano added.

Chelsea’s record signing is Moises Caicedo who joined the club for a British record fee of £115m and it appears that they will have to shatter that record if they are to sign Osimhen next month.

De Laurentiis is still hopeful that the Super Eagles striker will commit his long-term future to his club despite the seemingly frosty relationship between the two parties.
