Shettima leads Borno officials to Eid at Sallah

Former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima on Saturday led top officials of the Borno State government to Ramat Square, the venue of Eid-Adha’s congregational prayer in Maiduguri. 

Shettima, who habitually accompanies Governor Babagana Zulum had to take the lead because both Zulum and his deputy Umar Usman Kadafur are in Makkah, Saudi Arabia observing the 2022 Hajj rights.

The Senator led APC executives, lawmakers, commissioners, advisers, assistants and party chieftains to the prayers. 

Imam Idaini of Borno, Imam Shetima Mamman Ibn Saleh, led the two raka’at prayers and the slaughter of ram at the prayer ground. 

The Shehu of Borno Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi, Speaker Borno State House of Assembly- Abdulkarim Lawan; former Governor of Borno, Ali Sheriff, former Deputy Governor, Usman Mamman Durkwa and many top government officials and political leaders attended the eid prayers amid thousands of worshippers. 

After eid, residents of Maiduguri were thrilled with a Sallah durbar at Shehu’s Palace. 

The durbar is traditional held every sallah day and commemorates special events and entertains special visitors. 

Shettima led top government and APC officials to Shehu’s Palace for the sallah durbar for about three hours. 

District heads, village and ward heads among title holders and royal families, all of them adorned with colourful ceremonial regalia mounted horses on match, to perform during the durbar.
