Sit-at-home: Enugu government seals hotels, companies, shops for refusing to open on Monday

Enugu State Government officials on Monday sealed up several hotels, companies and shops for refusing to open.

The state governor, Peter Mbah, had urged residents of the state to ignore threats and sit-at-home order issued by a factional Indigenous People of Biafra led by Simeon Ekpa.

Mbah had warned that any offices that refused to open on Mondays would be sealed-off.

For fear of attack, many business outlets did not obey the state governor, thus staying back at home on Monday in compliance with the sit-at-home order.

However, on Monday morning, officials of Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority stormed the capital city and sealed many shops, hotels and companies that refused to open.

Some of the officials were sighted at Spar area of Enugu, pasting seal order on shops, gates and walls of business buildings that were not in operation.

As the sealing exercise was on, some residents of the state trooped out in their large number to demonstrate peacefully and encourage others to desist from obeying the illegal sit-at-home order.

They marched through major areas in the capital city, singing and dancing.

Some commercial transporters were sighted operating as some other areas were deserted.
