Sokoto to construct 1000 houses says Tambuwal

Sokoto State Government has said it will construct 1000 units of one-bed room houses for low income earners in the state.
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal stated this on Tuesday when he received the Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, Malam Mustapha Baba Shehure, who paid a courtesy visit to the Government House, Sokoto.
He said that the aim of the project was to improve the welfare of the people as well as provide opportunity for more citizens to own houses.
Tambuwal said already his administration had completed 500 housing units inherited from the last administration and commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari, when he visited Sokoto in November last year.
The governor said, “We hope to complete another 500 housing units at Gidan Man Ada towards the end of this year. Our aim is to ensure that civil servants and other interested individuals, who can afford these houses, get them and utilize them for the purposes they were meant for.
“We are conscious of the fact that more and more people need houses and as government, we will do our best to meet these needs.”
Tambuwal commended the Federal Government for the national housing projects embarked upon by the ministry and currently ongoing across the country.
He said that his administration would collaborate with the Federal Government in order to provide adequate and affordable houses to the people.
Earlier in his remarks, the minister of state said that he was in Sokoto to inspect the construction of the 80 housing units being executed by the Federal Government in the state.
He thanked the state government for providing land to the ministry for actualizing the project, saying Sokoto was the first state to achieve this level of progress regarding the project.
The minister informed the governor that the project was the first phase and expressed satisfaction with the level of work.
