Soun’s body interred today as Olaniyan, Ladoja, Alao-Akala, others visit palace

The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Rauf Olaniyan; former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala and former Governor Rashidi Ladoja have visited the palace of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi, on account of his demise.

Other leading personalities in the state who came to condole with the family of the late monarch were the Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi; Senator Fatai Buhari; and Senator Hamzat Adeseun, among others.

Their visits came as the remains of the late Soun of Ogbomoso was committed to the earth in the ancient city on Sunday.

Other dignitaries have continued to throng the palace since the news of the death of the monarch filtered in.

Oba Oyewumi was said to have passed on around 2am on Sunday at the age of 95, after reigning for 48 years.

The monarch was buried according to Islamic rites in a vault in the palace at about 4:30pm.

The burial prayer was conducted by the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso,
Tholiat Oluwasina Ayilara.
