The Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola has inaugurated the Directorate of Grassroots Mobilisation Engagement and Orientation (South West) of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima Presidential Campaign of the All Progressives Congress.
At the inuaguration in Osogbo on Saturday, the six South West States were represented while a former Deputy Governor of Osun, Titi-Laoye Ponle, is the Director of the Directorate.
Speaking, Oyetola said Tinubu and his running mate have brought hope to Nigerians adding that reforming the country is about experience and competence and not about primordial considerations.
He said, “Tinubu/Shettima ticket is powered by tested and trusted hands and it offers renewed hope for all in all sectors. It ensures our today and assures us of our tomorrow.
“The Grassroots Mobilisation, Engagement and Orientation Directorate of the Presidential Campaign Council is the principal channel for the expression of our conviction that reforming Nigeria answers to experience, competence and political will and not primordial considerations.
“We are here as the Omoluabi contingent to support a team that symbolises the competence, integrity and experience required to further transform the nation and take it to the next level.
“We are here to put South-west seal of excellence on a ticket that had been tested and trusted to deliver excellence in the throes of economic downturn in the past. We are here to support the ticket that promises to give renewed hope and sustainable development.
“As a group not new to our policy of political collaboration and inclusiveness in Osun, I am persuaded that you are well prepared to coordinate yourselves to ride on the wings of technology and the horse of traditional mobilization to hit the cities and the hinterlands until the last person imbibes the message of renewed hope.
“Indeed, you are the Group through whose voice, the message of Renewed Hope will resonate town to town, village to village and door to door.
“The ultimate goal of this Grassroots Group is electoral success.Therefore, we all have a duty not to rest until the last person is mobilised for Asiwaju/Shettima victory in February next year. This is a call to be part of history, a call to be a part of creating the new nation we all desire and the future we seek for our children and our children’s children.
“Osun is known for employing excellence to pursue the ideals of the progressives. As a critical member of the Progressives Family, we have demonstrated that good governance and equitable provision of resources are possible in a depressed economy. We have offered you and your children quality and equitable healthcare, education, infrastructure and security.
“Asiwaju Tinubu and Senator Shettima had also demonstrated these capacities as governors. We did it here. They did it in Lagos and Borno. They will do it in Nigeria. Trust the transformational and ‘talk and do’ duo to deliver a better Nigeria,” the governor stated.
Also speaking, the Director of the grassroots mobilisation group, Titi-Laoye Ponle, assured that nothing less than 90 percent of the South West votes would be delivered to the APC presidential candidate. She said the group would visit doors to doors, units, wards, local government and states to ensure that everyone keys into the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
Ponle said, “We are determined to deliver 90 per cent of South West votes for Asiwaju. I know you are all ready to deliver victory for APC presidential candidate. I want to admonish you to work assiduously in canvassing support for Tinubu who has the capacity in delivering good governance.”
In his remarks, the Chairman of APC in Osun, Gboyega Famodun, said the former governor of Lagos State would remove what he termed as the “evil veil” hovering around the country.
“Asiwaju has the capacity and good health to be the next president. He has been touring the country for months now without failing. When elected, the evil veil that is on our country will be over. He has built the foundation for Lagos State and he will replicate same in Nigeria.
“I want to urge you to go back to your grassroots with this gospel. Take the campaign of Tinubu to traditional rulers and religion leaders across the state. What is happening to us in this country can only be tackled by Asiwaju because of his capacity,” Famodun noted.
