Southampton targets Euro 2016 star, Stanciu

News from far afield has reached the bar at the Football Transfer Tavern that another rebuild at Southampton is underway, as Claude Puel is lining up his first signing as the new boss at St. Mary’s. According to reports in Romania, the Saints have shown an interest in bringing Steaua Bucurest’s, Nicolae Stanciu to the Premier League. The attacking midfielder would reportedly cost the South Coast side €6m, a bargain, considering the huge amount recently received for Sadio Mane. The 22-year-old scored 12 goals in 28 appearances for his club last season, a form good enough to earn him a call up to the Romanian side for the Euros in France this summer.
The five-foot-seven attacker has experience in both the Champions League and Europa League, which would be a crucial addition to Puel’s new side as he prepares for the club’s first outing in the Group Stages of the Europa League.
