THE highest group of decision makers from the North are currently holding a crucial meeting on the state of the nation as it affects the North, in Kaduna State.

Governors of the Northern States, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu; Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello; and Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, are part of the meeting.

Also in attendance are senators and House of Representatives members from the North.

Northern Traditional Rulers, led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar lll, are also in attendance.

The details of the closed-door meeting, which commenced at about 12pm, at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna, the state capital, were however sketchy as of the time of filing this report.

Governors of the Northern States had, a few days ago, held an emergency meeting, following the violence that greeted the protracted #EndSARS protests across the country.

The Point had reported that the governors of the 19 Northern States, linked the destructions and killings triggered by the #EndSARS protests across the country to what they described as the antics of the enemies of the country “who are violently pushing for regime change outside the ballot box.”

The Northern Governors also condemned “the diabolical influencers in form of hooliganism, ethno-religious bigots and even political marauders” who they said were bent on pulling the nation down and pushing for regime change.

The Forum, however, called on Nigerians to resist the enemies of the nation and support President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Government and democracy at large.

These positions were contained in a communiqué, read by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong.

The Forum also advocated for the constitution of a Judicial Commission of enquiry to investigate all levels of destruction and killings during the #EndSARS protests.
