Stop Southern Kaduna Killings, Sultan tells Buhari

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari administration and the government of Kaduna State to “go a step further by proffering lasting solutions to unjust, heinous and dastard acts of destruction of lives and properties in Southern Kaduna.”

The Sultan, who described the recurrent killings as “acts of hatefulness and savagery in Southern Kaduna,” also called on the Federal Government to “objectively investigate the matter and prosecute whoever is found guilty, irrespective of the person’s tribe, creed or social status.”

A statement from the Council’s Director of Administration, Ustaz Christian Isa Okonkwo, made available to The POINT, quoted the Sultan as expressing sadness, while indicating that as at the last count over 800 people were reportedly killed while about 57 others had suffered severe injuries.

The statement said, “The NSCIA denounces these events in its entirety, particularly because they run contrary to fundamental Islamic law, which ordains human life to be sacred and strongly forbids its unlawful destruction, except for a just course.”
