Suspected terrorists kill 4 persons in Niger

Some suspected terrorists have reportedly killed four persons in Gwada community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The men of the underworld were said to have written the residents on their plan to invade the community.

The attack happened on Saturday evening while Muslims were breaking Ramadan fast.

Two persons were said to have been abducted in the attack that lasted close to four hours.

One of the hostages is said to be a businesswoman and the other, son of one of the officials of the North-South Power Company.

The Public Relations Officer of the Coalition of Shiroro Association, Salisu Mohammed Sabo, confirmed the incident, saying that the attack started from Tatila junction linking Gwada with other communities.

He said that “With this attack, it means that only Kuta has not been attacked in Shiroro. Gwada is very tensed and people are considering moving to Kuta as an alternative.”

The Vice Chairman of the Council, Isyaku Bawa, confirmed the incident, saying that security agents were mobilised to the scene.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Niger State, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident said that details were still sketchy.

“On 16/04/2022 at about 19hours, information was received that armed bandits attacked Kadna village via Gwada, Shiroro Local Government Area.

“Police tactical team and other security agencies with vigilante were mobilized to the area and the hoodlums were repelled,” he stated.
