Nigeria’s Super Eagles could be without their talisman, Victor Osimhen, for their final group games in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Osimhen may miss the clash against Cape Verde and Liberia after he picked up a muscle injury in Napoli’s training.

The star performer suffered a muscle strain at the weekend. And it’s a big blow for Napoli as the 22-year-old has been their best player this season with nine goals in eleven matches.

The extent of the injury is not yet known, but reports revealed that he could be out for up to two weeks. And should that be the case, Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, will have to do without his top scorer in the qualifying series for the clash against the Blue Sharks and Lone Stars.

The three-time African champions Nigeria needs just a win to reach the playoff round.

Meanwhile, Wilfred Ndidi, was back training this weekend with the rest of his Leicester City teammates which is good news for Nigeria’s Super Eagles who expect to have the midfielder fit for the next international break.

Ndidi has been out since September after picking up a hamstring injury in Leicester’s 2-2 draw against Burnley at the King Power Stadium.

As a result, he missed Nigeria’s doubleheader 2022 World Cup qualifying games against the Central African Republic earlier in October.

However, it appears Ndidi has recovered earlier than scheduled and could be available for Nigeria’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde and Liberia in November, handing Super Eagles team a massive boost.
