Teenage boy robs man of phone at gunpoint

The Osun State Police Command has docked an 18-year-old-boy, Kazeem Lukman, for allegedly robbing a man of his phone at gunpoint.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode, said that Lukman, who was accused of arming himself with guns and other dangerous weapons, reportedly attacked one Wasiu Jimoh and dispossessed him of his Android phone.

According to the police officer, some other suspects who allegedly committed the offence in connivance with Lukman are still at large.

The charge against him read that “Kazeem Lukman and others now at large, on April 8, 2022, at Ayegbaju Market, Osogbo, Osun State, did conspire among yourselves to commit a felony to wit: armed robbery and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 6(b) and punishable under Section 1(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap RII, Volume 14, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

“You, Kazeem Lukman, and others now at large, on the same date, time, place and in the aforementioned magisterial district, did arm yourselves with guns and other dangerous weapons and rob one Wasiu Jimoh of his android mobile phone and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 1(1)(2) (a) (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap RII Volume 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.”

The defendant faced prosecution without any legal representation.

Magistrate A. Adeyeba did not take his plea, but ordered that he should be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre.

He adjourned the matter till June 2 for hearing.
