Teenager in court for stealing plasma TV

A 19 year old man, Ismail Yusuf, has been dragged before a Magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly stealing a plasma television set.
The accused, arraigned by the policeĀ on Wednesday, was said to have burgled a house and carted away one 32-inch plasma television valued at N100,000.
In the charge sheet obtained in court, the police prosecutor, Sergeant AjayiĀ Sunday, argued that the offence was committed on July 20, 2017 at aboutĀ 6:45pmĀ at Agunbelewo area of Osogbo.
SundayĀ added that Ismail removed the television belonging to the occupant of the burgled house, identified as Ajala Tunde, from the wall it was fixed on before carrying it out of the window.
The prosecutor told the court that Ismail committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 412 and 390 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
Ismail pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of theft preferred against him. His counsel, Okobe Najite, applied for his bail, stressing that the constitution presumed him innocent of the offence until the contrary had been proved.
The presiding Magistrate, Ashiru Ayeni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in the same amount.
Ayeni adjourned the case toĀ September 29Ā for hearing.
