Three kidnapped lawyers, driver regain freedom in Warri

Three lawyers of the Warri branch of the Nigeria Bar Association, and a driver kidnapped on the Benin-Auchi road on Wednesday have been freed.

According to a statement by the Chairman of the NBA, Warri branch, Emmanuel Uti, the lawyers were set free in the early hours of Saturday and had reunited with their families.

Part of the statement said, “We are pleased to announce the release of three of our colleagues and their driver who were kidnapped along Benin-Auchi Road on February 2nd, 2022.”

“They were released today February 5th, 2022, at about 1:05am and have reunited with their families.”

The statement also proferred solutions how kidnapping along the Benin-Auchi road axis could be dealt with.

“This kidnap incident has brought to fore the need for the Edo State Government to take steps to clear the forest from the Ogbemudia Farms axis along the Benin-Auchi road up to Ekpoma and the need for every Police Area Commands in Edo and Delta states to be equipped with phone Tracking Devices to help in curbing this security menace that the nation is grappling with,” it said.

The statement, however, didn’t mention whether any ransome were paid for the kidnapped lawyers and driver.
