President Bola Tinubu has commended the inauguration of Nigeria’s largest lithium processing plant in Lafia, Nasarawa State, highlighting the nation’s appeal for foreign investment.
Speaking in Abuja during a meeting with Governor Abdullahi Sule and executives from Avatar New Energy Materials Company Limited and Canmax Technologies, President Tinubu lauded the plant’s launch and a new $200 million investment announcement for another plant in Nasarawa State.Highlighting environmental protection and community engagement, he urged prioritising these aspects alongside operations.
President Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s potential in solar panel production and encouraged collaboration for market dominance in Africa.
He commended Governor Sule and Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, for their commitment to environmental protection and value addition in mining operations.
Governor Sule expressed gratitude for President Tinubu’s support and highlighted the potential of lithium mining in Nasarawa State. He stated that the factory will offer employment opportunities to over 1,000 indigenes.
Alake outlined proactive measures to address risks posed by abandoned mines and underlined the government’s focus on enhancing local value in the mining sector.
