Tinubu extends best wishes to Babangida on 82nd birthday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conveyed his best wishes to the former military head of state, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd.), on the occasion of his 82nd birthday.

The felicitations were expressed through a statement issued by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Wednesday.

The statement highlighted Babangida’s extensive service in various capacities within the Nigerian army, ending up in the esteemed role of Chief of Army Staff.

Notably, Babangida’s distinguished defence of the nation during the Nigerian Civil War was underscored, leaving an indelible legacy.

Also, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated Babangida on his 82nd birthday celebration.

The governor, in a statement, said: “I celebrate Nigeria’s former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), as he marks his 82nd birthday.

“A consummate statesman, Babangida played a critical role in Nigeria’s history and his indelible contribution to Nigeria’s progress is undeniable.”

He added: “We celebrate his commitment to Nigeria’s unity and development.

“We applaud his undying love for our dear country, which is often expressed in his frequent interventions in the public space.

“As he marks his 82nd birthday, we wish him a long life in good health and sound mind.”
