Truck kills okada rider, passenger in Lagos

truck alleged to have suffered sudden break failure has killed a commercial motorcycle rider and his passenger in the Agboju area of Lagos State.

The motorcycle rider was said to be coming from Alaba, when the truck being driven at a high speed, crushed both the rider and the passenger on the motorcycle.

An eyewitness, John Onyekachi, disclosed that the rider attempted to escape from the long vehicle, but his desperate effort was to no avail, as the truck moved towards their direction, killing both of them instantly.

My wife wept and I could not control her when we saw the lifeless bodies of the motorcycle rider and the passenger killed by the truck. The vehicle’s break failed and the driver tried in vain to control it, but ended up killing the rider and his male passenger

Onyekachi said the driver of the vehicle also attempted to escape from the accident scene but he was apprehended by people around the area.

The eyewitness added that traffic policemen from the Satelite Police Station, State Police Command, arrived at the scene and arrested the driver, who they whisked away to the station. They also towed the long vehicle away from the scene.

Onyakachi said, “My wife wept and I could not control her when we saw the lifeless bodies of the motorcycle rider and the passenger killed by the truck. The vehicle’s break failed and the driver tried in vain to control it, but ended up killing the rider and his male passenger.

“Someone said that the passenger went to buy something at Alaba International Market and was returning with the goods when the accident occurred. Policemen from the Satellite Police Station later came to the accident scene to remove the corpses and the vehicles, including the motorcycle. It was a gory and pathetic scene at Agboju.”
