Two Danish clubs fight over Uzochukwu

Super Eagles midfielder Izunna Uzochukwu has become the main character in a dispute between two Danish clubs.

On Thursday, B1909 and OKS faced off in the Danish series, and it ended with a convincing 3-0 victory for OKS, but the showdown has had an aftermath.

B1909 has indeed filed a protest over the eligibility of OKS midfielder Uzochukwu to face his former club and the crux of the matter revolves around whether the player’s documentation was transferred before Thursday’s encounter.

Henrik Brandt Rasmussen, communications manager at B1909, confirmed that Uzochukwu’s player’s certificate is still with the club and OKS are not entitled to use him.

OKS senior chairman Klavs Bo Nygaard Larsen revealed that B1909 have chosen to submit a protest, which they are now responding to, and are awaiting the DBU’s decision.

Odense Kammeraternes Sportsklub snapped up Uzochukwu earlier this month and from the summer of 2024 he will be hired as an assistant coach in the squad, where he will still be available as a player.

Uzochukwu is a well-known figure in Danish football, having accumulated a total of 201 appearances in the Danish Superliga during his time with FC Midtjylland and Odense BK.

The FC Ebedei product also counts Amkar Perm, Meizhou Hakka, Aalesund and Honka among his former clubs.
