Two feared dead in fresh cholera outbreak in Ebonyi

Two persons have reportedly died in a fresh cholera outbreak at Ofenekpa Inyimagu, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

There has been a cholera outbreak in some communities in Ikwo in the last one month with about 19 persons reportedly killed.

The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chinedu Ogah, intervened in the outbreak which has stopped the disease.

Regrettably, on Saturday, two persons died in the outbreak of the virus in the Ofenekpa community.

Ogah, the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Poverty Alleviation, has mobilised a medical team, led by Chukwu Okwudiri of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team, to intervene in the outbreak which has killed not less than two indigenes of the community.

Since December 2022 there has been a cholera outbreak in some local government areas of the state including Ishielu, Afikpo North LGA.
