The Edo State Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly kidnapping a commercial sex worker and raping her in turn.

It was gathered that the suspects, Marvelous Imiefoh, aged 20 and 24-year-old Uwagbhele John, pretended as if they wanted to patronise the lady around Ekpoma area in the state before they led her into a bush and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her recently.

Confirming their arrest, the Public Relations Officer of the police command, Chidi Nwanbuzor, said the victim was standing alongside a road in the area before the suspects approached her for patronage.

Nwanbuzor said the victim explained that she bargained with her supposed clients to pay N15,000 of which they agreed to, but on their way to the place the men mentioned to her, they bundled her into a bush and allegedly raped her there at night.

“The lady came to our Ekpoma Division and reported that two men raped her inside the bush at Ekpoma area. We immediately swung into action and arrested the two men.

“She explained that she was standing beside the road, opposite a club at night and was waiting for her clients when Marvelous Imiefoh, aged 20 and Uwagbhele John, aged 24, came to her and agreed to pay her the sum of N15, 000 for her to follow them home till the next day.

“On their way, she said they abducted her and dragged her into a bush where they raped her. They stole her phone and other items she was holding after the act. They also stole the sum of N19, 699 from her bank account of which they transferred from her phone application.

“The suspects ran away after committing these crimes. We later arrested them and also recovered the phone they stole from the lady. We also recovered the money they took from her and they are assisting us in our investigation,” the police spokesperson said.

However, the suspects admitted to stealing the victim’s belongings, but claimed that the sexual intercourse was mutual and that she was not kidnapped.

They said they had agreed to take her to their house but later changed their minds by taking her into a bush, of which the lady was in agreement with.

According to the suspects, they had planned to give the lady the sum of N15, 000 if she agreed to allow them to make love with her inside the bush.

Nwanbuzor disclosed that the suspects would be arraigned after completion of investigation.
