Sunday Agwu, an aide to the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has died in an auto crash.

Agwu died on Christmas Day in an auto crash on the Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway.

Sources close to the family said the Christmas celebration for members of his family was bleak and tragic considering the role and position he occupied in the family.

The victim, who was until his death the Coordinator of Ishielu Development Centre in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was said to have crashed owing to over-speeding while in transit.

According to sources, Agwu died on transit along the Ntezi axis of Abakaliki/Enugu expressway where his car lost control and somersaulted multiple times.

It was gathered that efforts to save his life failed as he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.

He was reportedly confirmed dead in the early hours of December 26, 2022.

Reacting, the Chairman of Ishielu LGA, Obinna Onwe described the death of the Agwu as a colossal loss to the Council and the State at large.

He called on the family of the deceased to take consolation in the Lord as only God knew the real reason behind his untimely death.

The death came barely one week after another Aide to the Governor, Leonard Alegu, was shot dead by suspected kidnappers in Anambra State.

The victim was a member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Service Commission before he was killed.

The incident occurred on Saturday, December 17 along the Enugu-Onitsha expressway, in Umunya community, Oyi local Government Area of Anambra State.

Alegu was traveling to Onitsha for a child dedication ceremony when the incident occurred.
