A 40-year-old member of the Ebubeagu South-East Security Network in Ebonyi State, Ejike Nwogbaga, has been reportedly murdered by some yet-to-be-identified hoodlums.

Nwogbagba was said to have been killed in his Agbaenyim home town, Mgbalaukwu Inyimaegu community, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Narrating the incident, the bereaved wife, Ngozi Nwogbaga, told journalists that three assailants broke into their compound and struck shortly after she and her husband returned from a funeral ceremony.

She stated that “We were not apprehensive of anything before the incident. Immediately after my husband arrived at home, he brought out a mat to lie down at the frontage of our house because of the heat.

“Three men stormed our compound on board a motorcycle. Upon seeing him, the hoodlums began to shout hold him, hold him.

“My spouse, in his quest to save his life, ran into a nearby bush but they gave him a hot chase, and along the line, they killed him. They came out from the bush shortly after and mounted their motorcycle and zoomed off.

“The villagers came out in large number and began to search for my husband. The following morning, his lifeless body with machete cuts was found in the neighbouring village.”

The village head, Simon Nwofe, said that the deceased was a member of Ebubeagu in Izzi and a part time student of a higher institution.
