Unknown gunmen kidnap wife of APC council chairmanship candidate in Ogun

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped the wife of the All Progressives Congress Chairmaship Candidate for Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, Mrs Kudirat Balogun.

The victim’s husband, Gafar Balogun, is vying for the chairmanship position of the council area in the October local government council election in the state.

Kudirat was said to have been kidnapped at gun point on Sunday at her family home located at number 1, Sekoni Street in Olomore, Abeokuta .

A 13-year-old son of the victim, Kehinde Balogun, who witness her mother’s abduction told to our correspondent that four suspected kidnappers stormed their family home, demanding to see his father.

Kehinde said that since that while he was being questioned by the kidnappers concerning his father’s whereabouts, his mother, who was in the kitchen cooking a meal came in, and both of them were led outside at a gun point.

The teenage boy further said that the kidnappers, who whisked away his mother in a Toyota Matrix car, said before they disappeared, ” Your father is a sure person , your mummy will return soon”

Sympathizers were seen trooping in and out of the family home to console the family members when our correspondent visited as no fewer than 15 Islamic clerics were seen praying earnestly and chanting from the Quran.

The victim’s husband, Gafar Balogun, who wore a sorrowful look disclosed that he had gone to Lafenwa police station to report the case, which had been transferred to Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

The APC chairmanship candidate, however, called on the police and other security operatives to assist him in rescuing his wife back, lamenting that the kidnappers have yet to contact his family.

Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer,Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.

Oyeyemi said that the police were on top of the situation to rescue the victim.

He said that the police had launched an investigation into the kidnapping, adding that Commissioner of Police had ordered the anti-kidnapping unit to take over the case.
