A student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Chidera Wisdom Ugwu, has been diagnosed with kidney disease.
Ugwu, of the Department of Geology, has been kept alive on weekly dialysis since November, 2021 when the ailment was detected.
The 22-year-old indigene of Mbu-Akpoti, in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, currently bedridden at Caroline Medical Centre at Apo Zone E Abuja, has sent passionate appeal to well-meaning Nigerians to assist him to be well again.
According to him, in a message he sent to the public, which was verified to be real by The Point, doctors have asked him to prepare for a kidney transplant to enable him to get well and live better.
The transplant is said to cost N15 million.
The message entitled, “Humble Appeal for Help: Save My Soul my Brothers and Sisters,” reads, “My name is Ugwu Wisdom Chidera. I am the first son of Mr Cyril Ugwuagbo. I am 22 years of age. I am from the Ezenaohe clan in Mbu-Akpoti.
“I am also a 300 level student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka studying Geology.
“I was diagnosed with kidney disease (Glomerulonephritis) in the month of November, 2021. Ever since then, I have been on weekly dialysis to sustain my life. I’m currently being managed at Caroline Medical Centre at Apo Zone E Abuja but the doctors have advised me to go and prepare for a kidney transplant in order for me to have a better life.
“The estimated cost for the surgery is Fifteen Million Naira.
“To be honest with you, I and my family members have exhausted our resources on the diagnosis, dialysis and the ongoing treatment.
