Vieira’s sack: Palace atmosphere calm, says Parish


Following Patrick Vieira’s dismissal, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish claimed that the atmosphere at his team is still positive and put all of his trust in former captain Paddy McCarthy to rescue the team.

The under-21s coach was accompanied by his deputy at that level, Darren Powell, and first-team goalkeeping coach Dean Kiely when Palace battled Premier League leaders on Sunday, according to a club statement.

Prior to the game on Sunday, Palace has maintained its position in 12th place for nine weeks in a row, but their recent slump—12 games in all competitions without a victory and only five goals—forced ownership to act after teams lower down in the standings closed the gap, leaving the south London club only three points above the relegation zone.
