The Campaign for Democracy has asked Nigerians, particularly the youth, to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards in order to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress, come 2019.
The group said the call had become necessary, following the excruciating and untold hardship Nigerians were currently being subjected to under the Buhari-led administration.
In a statement issued at the weekend, the General Secretary, CD, Rev. Ifeanyi Odili, pointed out that the current leadership of the APC had shown that they did not have anything tangible to offer the nation, adding that “if the youths do not wade in and change the government, the nation will head for a collapse.”
He said, “Looking at this country with our arms folded is extremely detrimental to our corporate existence. The present leaders have demonstrated to us all that they have nothing to offer. Soon after the advent of the present administration of Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerians became further pillaged, cheated, intimidated, blackmailed and subjected to a state of sub-human beings.
“The CD is of the strong belief that if Buhari’s government is allowed to continue, he will plunge Nigeria into a state of serious confusion and depression. It is very unfortunate that we overrated Buhari in 2015, such that Nigerians went to the poll and gave him overwhelming votes that gave room to his emergence.”
Odili further averred that “Buhari cajoled Nigerians into falling for his contraption through his much touted anti-corruption fight, which has turned out to be a mirage, because Nigerians were desirous of getting a president that would rid Nigeria of endemic corruption.”
The CD General Secretary added that Buhari’s handling of the economy had left sour taste in the mouths of many Nigerians as prices of all commodities had soared beyond the reach of the average Nigerian, while the naira had been critically devalued.
