Patrick Obahiagbon, Chairman of the Ogun APC Appeal Committee, has noted that despite the reported parallel congresses of the party in the state, no petition has been receive by the panel since its arrival in Abeokuta, the state capital on Monday, October 25.

Obahiagbon said that in the absence of petitions, the committee would conclude its report and forward same to the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.

The committee chairman gave the indication on Wednesday at a press briefing held at the Conference Hotel, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He said, “We have sat for two days now, and no person or persons have approached this state Congress Appeal Committee with any petition.

“We are of the view that the Ogun State APC is satisfied that the congress that took place on the 16th October was in substantial compliance with both the Constitution of APC, the extant regulations rolled out by the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, and of course, the clear provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“What is left for us now is to write our report and submit same to the Caretaker Extraordinary and Convention Planning Committee of the APC. That we intend to do, very timely, so that we too can meet the timeline for this assignment.”

Obahiagbon, who stated that the appeal committee had the mandate of the national secretariat of the party to examine any petition arising from the state congress, said that since no petition was brought, there would be no need to have further delay.
