A Peoples Democratic Party chieftain in Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Princess Olanrewaju Oyesanwo, has pledged the continued loyalty of her group to Senator Buruji Kashamu and the Chief Adebayo Dayo-led executive of the party in the state.
Princess Oyesanwo, who spoke against the backdrop of the recent claim by some persons that Senator Kashamu was aware of their plan to leave the PDP in the state, stressed that herself and her supporters remained loyal members of the PDP in Ogun State.
Senator Kashamu, who was the governorship candidate of the PDP in Ogun State during the 2019 general elections, had recently dissociated himself from some estranged members of the party, who defected to the All Progressives Congress in the state.
Kashamu had further said that while it was true that he canvassed support for the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led Administration in the overall interest of the state, such should not be misconstrued to mean that he has defected to the APC or authorised any of his followers and associates to do so.
Oyesanwo, however, noted that her group had no intention of going to any other party, except given the permission and clearance by Kashamu, who has for years been the major financier of the PDP in Ogun State.
She described those leaving the PDP in the state for the ruling APC as “bread and butter politicians and opportunists,” who jump ship and defect when faced by the smallest challenge.
The PDP chieftain noted that Kashamu had done so much in holding the party together in the state and had proved to be a great leader and politician, who would not mind to spend his God-given resources to ensure the well-being of all party members in the state and even beyond.
She noted that for the over eight years that the PDP had been in opposition in Ogun State Kashamu had been uniting force holding the party together even in the face of daunting tribulations.
Oyesanwo, therefore, urged all party members in the state to remain firm in their resolve to uplift the PDP in Ogun State in collaboration with Kashamu and the Dayo-led exco.
“I want to stress that anywhere Senator Kashamu is going, we’ll go together. My followers and I are still in the authentic PDP in Ogun State under our Chairman, Engineer Bayo Dayo. They are the leaders of our party in Ogun State and we’ll keep supporting them and remain loyal to them,” she said.
