We’ll capitalise on APC’s weakness to return in 2019-PDP

The Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has vowed to capitalise on the failures of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state to win the 2019 governorship election.
The state Chairman of the PDP, Francis Orogu, said this in an interview shortly after convening a meeting of the Working Committee of the party in Lafia, the state capital.
Orogu said that with the recent victory of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee at the Supreme Court over the Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff National Executive Committee, the distraction allegedly masterminded by the APC had come to an end.
“I want to assure Nasarawa people that come 2019, victory will be for the PDP, taking advantage of the lacklustre performance and weakness of the ruling APC in the state. The distraction created by APC is now gone with our victory at the Supreme Court,” he said.
Orogu added that the PDP had now come to realise why it lost the 2015 governorship election in Nasarawa State and had now put its house in order to wrest power from the ruling APC in the state.
“With the new executive officials of the PDP, who are committed to doing everything morally right to live up to expectations, our victory in 2019 is assured,” he said.
The Nasarawa PDP boss disclosed that the party had concluded consultations with its stakeholders on its proposed zoning formula towards the 2019 general elections and would soon come up with its pronouncement on the zoning arrangement in the state.
The meeting, which attracted representatives of the party from the 174 wards in the state, was described by Orogu as, “An unprecedented turnout, despite the hard times being experienced in the state due to APC’s non-performing government, which has been owing workers’ salaries for several months and even the little it had paid was done in percentages.”
