We’ll dislodge APC from Zamfara in 2019, ex-NSA, Gusau, vows

Aformer National Security Adviser, Gen. Aliyu Mohammed Gusau (retd) has broken his long silence, vowing to ensure that the ruling All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State is defeated in the 2019 elections in the state.

Gusau vowed that he would work tirelessly to install a Peoples Democratic Party-led government in the state in 2019.

The former NSA, who convened a meeting of PDP stakeholders in the state in his residence, urged the party stalwarts to remain united and work tirelessly for the victory of the party in the next round of elections in the state.

The PDP meeting, our correspondent gathered, was a response to the recent defection of the former PDP governor, Mamuda Aliyu Shinkafi, who claimed to have moved to the ruling APC along with his former commissioners and other party loyalists.

While assuring thousands of PDP faithful in attendance of his commitment towards the success of the party, Gusau said that the defection of the former governor would not affect the chances of the party in any way in the 2019 general elections.

He said, “I’m now determined to concentrate fully on the state’s politics to ensure the success of the PDP. We have suffered humiliation in the previous elections, it would not happen again.

“I concede defeat in the previous contests, but I’ve now run out of patience.”

Gusau also enjoined all the party members in the state to remain steadfast, resolute and work hard towards the party’s electoral victory, adding that the PDP in the state had now come of age, and was fully ready to ensure that the party emerged victorious at the forthcoming polls.

The Chairman of the PDP in the state, Sen. Hassan Muhammad Nasiha, told the meeting that the former governor, Mamuda Aliyu Shinkafi, acted u n i l a t e r a l l y without the consent of the party.

Explaining further, Nasiha said from “our record and from the evidence now on the ground, Shinkafi left alone”, adding that he did not influence any of the party elders.

Some of the PDP bigwigs in attendance at the meeting included the former state chairman of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Mallaha; a former senator, Sahabi Ya’u; some former members of the House of Representatives, including Hon. Bello Mohammed Mattawalle, all local government PDP chairmen, the state secretary of the party, Hon. Ibrahim Umar Dangaladima; and hundreds of supporters.
