Why I didn’t vote for Atiku on Feb 25 – Bode George

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George, has explained why he did not campaign or vote for the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, during the just concluded February 25, presidential election.

Speaking on a national television on Tuesday, the former deputy national chairman of the PDP said his action was due to non representation of his people in the party for the election.

He said while other zones in the country were represented in PDP’s leadership for the 2023 election, his South West zone was not represented and so, he did not commit any anti-party activities.

Bode George said he could not in good faith, encourage the people from his zone to vote for the candidate of a party that did not attach any significance to them as people who could be top members of the party.

“I told them before that if they do not rearrange the top echelon of the management of the party, I will not vote for Atiku, because you know what happened. Where is my zone? If you don’t consider my people as important to be part of the top echelon of your management, how do I campaign for you? If you don’t respect my people in politics, what am I doing there?”

Speaking on the state of the party, he said the best thing to do was to mediate and take action later.

“The best solution now to save this sinking ship is to mediate. It is after the post mortem analysis that we will now take action.”
